Do you enjoy driving around looking for bargains at Garage Sales? You could turn your gift for "sniffing out" the best deals into a career - a very profitable one at that. During the week go around collecting items to re-sell on the weekend. Purchase ANYTHING at low prices and sell high. Everything from household items and large appliances to garden tools and equipment.
There are numerous ways of marketing the items you attain:
Fill a Need / Direct Sales: A neighbor or business needs an item you've purchased at other people's garage sales.
Consignment: you can approach consignment shops, local stores and vendors and have them sell larger items for you, paying them a consignment fee, usually 50-75% of your asking price.
Advertisements and Fliers: place ads in newspapers, online classifieds: send out fliers through your post office or community groups. Your ad or flier may say something like: "Best Bargain on Washing Machine". Give your Phone Number and/or address.
Start your own Online Auction Center: Online auctions are the "in" thing. Depending on how you market your website online, your potential customer base is astronomical. If items need shipping, you can either send them COD or include the shipping cost in the prices of your wares.
Flea Markets: Everybody loves a Flea Market. You can find anything from silver polish to living room recliners. And many of us enjoy the "bartering" over the asking price.
Have your own weekly/monthly garage sale: hunt out other peoples' sales and buy items during the week or month then hold your own garage sale. Be consistent - have your sales at the same time and on the same week day. "Garage Sale Junkies" and bargain hunters will then "routinely" check out your sale.
You could be a Garage Sale Tour Guide: check for yard and garage sales, flea markets, antique and novelty shops ahead of time and schedule a tour for bargain seekers.
Organize Community "Garage Sales": Organize a yearly "Sprinig Cleaning" Garage Sale. It can be held at a local school or church.
Trade Shows and County Fairs: check with your local chamber of commerce for dates, persons to contact and prices for renting tables.
